John Roman did Warp It Down

John Roman seems to be on fire at the moment. His recent remix of the The Bloody Beetroots track Cornelius received quite a fair amount of positive feedback and started his journey into hype land. We had a little chat with him about what was up with his massive storm of remixes right now, what he thinks of remixing and finally what influences he has for his remix work.

Well, obviously there’s an enormous appeal with remixes. The best reactions you can get in the club are either to something familiar or something entirely unexpected, and remixing allows to kind of combine the two, creating, hopefully, something even greater.

“Warp” and “Shake it Down” were two of my favorite dancefloor tracks from the past year, but as DJs continue to drop them, the appeal has shifted from unexpected, to familiar, and now approaching unoriginal. But I loved both of those tracks so much, I couldn’t completely take them out of my set.

So I created “Warp it Down” which used some familiar elements from each, adding my own signature sounds. A lot of my production these days is strongly influenced by live reactions, which is why I’ve been remixing so much right now, but there’s still plenty of original material on the way in the next few months.

Now John is back with yet another two great remixes. Cornelius clearly wasn’t enough for this guy so he stepped up his game and did a remix of Warp too. If you liked Cornelius, you’ll dig this one too for sure!
